Bioceval Implements TankCleaner T100 for Efficient and Sustainable Silo Cleaning

Bioceval, a leading processor of fish waste and scraps, based in Cuxhaven, Germany, receives approximately 120,000 tons of raw fish material annually. The company processes this material into valuable products such as fish oil, pet food, animal feed, and fish meal for aquaculture. As part of a modernization initiative, Bioceval, in collaboration with FM Bulk Handling, sought to replace its outdated concrete bunker system with a more advanced and efficient solution.

Transformation from an old to a modern production

The previous system utilized a large concrete bunker loaded with a crane running on train tracks. This method was not only inefficient but also posed significant safety risks and fell short of modern production standards. It had become time for a transition to stainless steel siloes with integrated automatic cleaning, for a reliable and effective cleaning solution to ensure a high quality production and operational efficiency.

The development of the T100 TankCleaner

FM Bulk Handling asked Washpower if they could deliver a cleaning solution for this project and this was the start of the development of the T100 TankCleaner unit. A universal wash unit designed to clean all sorts of tanks and silos, by adding smart programming combined with a nozzle that could move free in every direction. This way it can be programmed to focus its cleaning were most needed, and then be both efficient and use less water for the same job. Further they are designed to clean siloes efficiently using only high-pressure cold water, eliminating the need for chemical cleaning agents such as soda or acid. This ensures a contamination-free environment for their products, aligning with Bioceval’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

Implementation & results

The project was executed in two phases:

Phase 1: Five TankCleaner T100 units were installed on five siloes, each with a capacity of 180 tons. The results were highly satisfactory, with significantly improved cleanliness and operational efficiency.

Phase 2: Bioceval proceeded with the installation of six additional smaller siloes with T100 units, completing their transformation to modern production standards.

So, a total of 11 TankCleaner T100 units were installed across both phases. Bioceval has expressed great satisfaction with the performance of the cleaning system, noting:

  • Very clean results
  • Increased operational safety and efficiency
  • Better products, with less contamination from chemicals
  • Reduced environmental impact due to chemical-free cleaning
  • A modernized, streamlined production process

The implementation of the TankCleaner T100 has provided Bioceval with a sustainable, and highly efficient cleaning solution for their siloes. By investing in this modern technology, Bioceval has significantly improved its production processes while ensuring the best possible production standards. A success that reinforces the value of innovative and eco-friendly cleaning solutions in industrial settings.

We made some test with Washpower in the past. And we were very surprised of the effect of this system. The effect is very good, the silos are very clean after and without any use of ingredients like soda and acid.”
