Overgaard Swine Production has truly transformed the way cleaning is done in the barns with washing robots. Ten years ago, they weren’t entirely sure if a washing robot was the right choice for them. But after the first robot arrived on the farm, they saw significant benefits, and now it’s hard to imagine the work without them. Recently, they even decided to invest in two new robots that can handle the cleaning even more efficiently.

“At first, I was very skeptical, but I had to give in. And now I just have to say, it’s fantastic!” says Lennart, operations manager at Overgaard Swine Production, with a smile. It’s clear that the robots have made a big difference.

“If you wash manually with a pressure washer, you actually have to stop after an hour and take a break. But the robot just keeps going, without needing to rest,” explains Lennart.

‘’We just started it, and it’s been running perfectly ever since,’’ says Lennart.

At Overgaard Swine Production, the washing robots have taken that burden off their daily routine, so the employees no longer have to deal with the most tedious tasks.

”When you’re washing, you get all the dirt in your face, and it’s really annoying! The washing robot takes care of the dirty work for us,” says Lennart.

Ready for the future

At Overgaard Swine Production, they think ahead, and that’s evident in their newly built finishing pig barns. When the barn was constructed, it was with the intention that the washing robots would be able to operate without issues. Therefore, there are no load-bearing beams or vertical obstacles in the barn aisle, providing the robots with optimal conditions to perform their work efficiently.

”In our new finishing pig barns, we built with the intention of allowing the robot to operate, and it works really well,” says Lennart.

The robots have not only improved cleaning but also lightened the work environment and optimized operations on the farm.
