The hard task of washing the turkey house is now replaced with an automatic solution

We visited Stefan Daries at his turkey farm in beginning of June 2024, to hear his thoughts about the use of P200 washing robot for broiler houses. At this given time, Stefan Daries had been using the washer for about one year.

Stefan first heard about the product when he was invited to a demonstration in southern Germany. Even though he couldn’t attend this event, his interest was aroused. The next possibility to learn more about the robot was the Eurotier 2022 where he met Washpower and discussed further the possibility of investing in this for his farm.

To clear up any remaining doubts, we offered him a free demonstration at his farm. We washed one of his broiler turkey houses and gave him a proper introduction to the product.
He then borrowed the machine for a few more days and could then use the machine on his own to clean the 2 other broiler houses as well.

Stefan really liked what he saw, and the fact that the machine is both reliable and is so mechanical simple, makes it for the most part very easy to maintain by himself.

Handling the hardest part of the washing

Especially the cleaning of the ceiling, the hardest part to wash a broiler house, is done perfectly by the P200, even better than if it was made manually according to Stefan.
A very unpleasant task that is now mostly gone and makes the job of washing a turkey house more approachable.

The dynamic washing angles of the nozzle assures that everything is washed evenly, also the beams at the side walls. After the washing robot is finished, the feeding pans and the floor are soaked very well. Stefan lets the P200 run once more at the end of the washing process and uses the floor-wash-function. The result of the floor washing is also excellent, he says.

By slightly finetuning the settings during the first few washes, Stefan has gradually optimised the entire washing process on his farm and is getting the most out of his investment.

“The result of the floor-wash is also excellent. We use the time we save to concentrate on the well-being of the animals.”

Efficient and better washing

A high level of hygiene is one of the keys to a successful production, so having uniformity in the cleaning is essential. With the P200 he has now an automatic solution to always achieve the same good result.

Having the P200 allows Stefan to coordinate the washing of his houses with the other tasks on the farm. He lets the robot often wash at night, which improves the assignment of the working activities.

The return of investment of this long-lasting machine is guaranteed by the savings on paying external washing companies. “I haven’t regretted the investment, on the contrary. We have little effort, and a washing crew also charges several thousand euros – for one wash”.

Stefan concludes that he now has a very satisfying solution for cleaning his houses, what the machine doesn’t clean, he and his employees can do easily, without being stressed too much physically.

“The employees and I are relieved. No more overhead washing. That was particularly unpleasant in winter. And the machine also washes at night and at weekends. We wouldn’t want to be without it.”
