BlueComfort makes fish pumping easy for Brüggli Forellen in Switzerland

At Brüggli Forellen they decided to add an extra fish pump to their fish farm, to increase the capacity and improve the ease-of-use when moving fish around at their fish farm.

Brüggli Forellen produces about 100 tons trout per year and have about 15 employees and is a family business with own smoking facility and shop, located about 50 kilometers south of Zürich.

Franz Reichmuth, the owner at Brüggli Forellen, already had previous experiences with BlueComfort and contacted Washpower to get a quote, and soon after bought the pump. Now one year later after they started using the pump, we visited the fish farm in Switzerland. We wanted to see and hear more about Franz fish farm and hear his thoughts about the pump and how they use it?

The BlueComfort is placed in the corner of the farm, and from there they can easily pump the fish from all their different ponds, simply by rearranging the hose and couplings. A great benefit that the pump is equipped with a powerful pump and therefore easily pump fish over great distance, up to 100 meters if needs to. The fish pump is connected to a sorting system, and they can then sort the fish in 3 different sizes, and only slaugther those above a certain size. Those below slaughter size then return safe to the ponds and can continue their growth.

Brüggli Forellen confirms that the fish pump moves the fish very gentle and the mortality at the farm is about zero percent. Franz states:

There’s no bleeding or bruising, it’s very gentle on the fish, very gentle on people and it’s a lot of fun to work with.

Easy fish pumping in focus

For Franz it is also important how easy it is to use and work friendly for the employees at the farm. The space is tight, and it will be quite cumbersome if they had to move a heavy pump around at the farm, so it is very easy and good for the working environment, that it can pump from one location. The pump is equipped with wheels and if needed, the P16 pump can also be moved around.

Brüggli Forellen is so far very happy about the pump, super simple to use, and reliable, and it has both improved the work environment and made everyday work at the fish farm more efficient and better.

So far we have no problems with the Pump, it always runs, it runs continuously, we use it sometimes once a week, sometimes twice a day, sometimes every day.
